Compare supplier prices. Catch every increase.
Your Buddy tracks every price on every invoice and price list, flags increases, sales and shrinking case sizes, and lines up every supplier on the same basis so you see the real gap.
Same item, every supplier, side by side
A 30 lb case at one supplier, four 10 lb bags at another, billed by weight at a third. Your Buddy converts them all to a price per pound or per each.
- Matches each supplier's product to your ingredient, even when the names don't match
- Handles case prices and catch-weight items priced by the pound
- Shows what switching saves each week at the amount you actually use
| Supplier | Case | Case price | Per lb |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restaurant Depot | 30 lb | $69.90 | $2.33 |
| US Foods | 4 × 10 lb | $100.80 | $2.52 |
| Sysco (what you buy now) | 4 × 10 lb | $106.00 | $2.65 |
The cheapest way to buy, not just the cheapest case
The lowest case price isn't always the lowest cost. Every option is scored on what you actually pay per pound you serve, at the rate you use it.
Bigger cases
A bigger case only wins if you'll use it before it spoils.
Buy in bulk and freeze
Counts portioning time, thaw loss and how long it keeps frozen.
Cut it in-house
Weighs trim yield and labor against what the trim is worth to you.
Substitutes you approve
Only swaps you've said yes to are ever recommended.
Prices come from the invoices you send in; see how invoice reading works. Every price change flows into your plate costs, so the menu engineering view stays current too.
Questions
How does it compare suppliers that sell different pack sizes?
Every supplier's price is converted to the same basis, a price per pound, per gallon or per each, so a 30 lb case, four 10 lb bags and a catch-weight item priced by the pound line up side by side.
Where do the prices come from?
From the invoices and price lists you already get. Forward them by email or upload them; there's nothing to type in.
Will it tell me to switch products I don't want to change?
No. Lock the ingredients you won't switch and block products you don't want. Your Buddy won't suggest them again, and only substitutes you've approved are ever recommended.
Do I have to switch suppliers?
No. Many owners keep their suppliers and use the comparison to negotiate. The savings shown are at the amount you actually use, so you can decide whether a switch is worth the extra delivery.
