Terms of service

Last updated October 16, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and RestaurantBuddy.net ("RestaurantBuddy", "we", "us") for using restaurantbuddy.net and the RestaurantBuddy app (the "service"). If you use the service for a restaurant or company, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. The service

RestaurantBuddy reads the invoices, price lists, sales reports, menus, recipes and inventory recordings you send and shows purchasing, inventory, cost, margin and menu information. We keep improving the service, so features can change. We'll try not to remove anything important without notice.

2. Accounts and your team

3. Your data

4. Your Buddy can make mistakes

RestaurantBuddy uses AI to read documents, match products, transcribe recordings, estimate recipes and write suggestions. It can misread a line, mismatch a product, mishear a count or suggest something that doesn't suit your restaurant. Totals, prices, margins and savings are calculated from what was read, so they're only as accurate as the reading. Check anything important before you rely on it, especially orders, prices you set, and supplier changes.

Information in RestaurantBuddy is not financial, tax, legal, food-safety or allergen advice. Recipe estimates are not allergen or nutrition information. We don't promise any particular savings or results.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to break the law, upload malware, try to reach other restaurants' data, overload or probe our systems, resell the service without our agreement, or send us files you don't have the right to share. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. Plans, billing and cancellation

7. Availability

We work to keep RestaurantBuddy running, but it's provided without a guaranteed uptime. It may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or because of problems with our providers.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using the service and delete your restaurant at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering the service, in which case we'll give reasonable notice where we can so you can export your data. After a restaurant is deleted its data is deleted as described in the privacy policy.

9. Disclaimers

Except as these terms say otherwise, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither side is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, even if warned they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

11. Indemnity

You'll defend and compensate us against third-party claims arising from content you uploaded without the right to, or from your breach of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For important changes we'll tell account admins at least 30 days ahead. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Kane County, Illinois.
